The VFX Festival 2017 Title Sequence – The Mill

The VFX Festival is an exciting event held every year in London and plays host to some fantastic talks from the cream of the British VFX industry. For 2017 the festival title sequence was created by the super talented team from The Mill, led by director JM Blay.

As this is a VFX festival they focused the titles on the theme of the VFX pipeline. They used a narrative that takes you through the VFX process – showing compositing passes and wireframes as if it was a VFX breakdown story.

To create the 3D assets and fluid simulations they used a combination of CINEMA 4D and Houdini and the renderer Arnold for scenes that contained a lot of geometry.
