Watch the video above to get a full breakdown of all the exciting new features in Zbrush. You can find out more details over at the Maxon website.

Exciting ZBrush 2023 Updates- Redshift Integration & More

ZBrush has received a significant update that delivers dramatic improvements for artists. The latest version of ZBrush now includes the first steps integration of Redshift, a rendering technology that allows artists to create high-quality images with subsurface scattering and emissive light generation directly within ZBrush without the need to export to any other software.

Slime Bridge – Another major update to ZBrush is the addition of new and improved sculpting tools. One of these tools is the Slime Bridge, which allows artists to use the power of the ZBrush masking system to create complex geometric connections and designs from one masked island to another. Controls for Tension, Bridges, Calipers, and Branches make it easy to instantly create sinewy, slimy connections between any two surfaces.

New Sculptris Pro tool has also been updated, and now allows artists to use a slider to increase mesh density in desired areas while also reducing the size of triangles. This makes it easier to add more detail where it counts.

New Mask Region feature is another new addition to ZBrush, which allows artists to mask complex shapes with ease. Simply paint indicators in simple or complex shapes to determine areas that should be filled and mask multiple areas with the push of a button.

ZRemesher Retry/Keep PolyPaint feature is a significant update to the industry’s best automatic retopology, as it now includes options to store and compare the results of different settings.

New Forger Updates

Forger, a tool for iPad, continues to expand creative capabilities beyond sculpting with a complete modeling toolset, including Subdivision Surfaces.

Trapcode and Maxon Capsules Updates

Maxon has also announced updates to its software for the creative industry, which includes improvements to Red Giant Trapcode. As part of the company’s ongoing focus on performance, the software has received some moderate enhancements, one of which is a new workflow that allows linking an emitter to any 3D layer in AE comps, making the setup of particle systems more efficient. Additionally, performance has been optimized when using animated Physics Time Factors, and memory management has been improved for Form particles.

There has also been a decent update to their content library, called Maxon Capsules, which provides subscribers with a creative kick-start and helps them to get started with over 75 new models optimized for Redshift, 30 materials for Redshift Wood, Metal and Liquid, and an additional 30 exclusive Maxon One materials. A new primitive called Wave Spline, created in partnership with Rocket Lasso, allows Maxon One subscribers to simulate oscilloscopes, sound forms and other animated waveforms.
