Maxon ZBrush Features
See Through Mode – This allows the ZBrush interface to be made increasingly transparent, so that you can see windows behind it. For example you could have a browser open in the background with a reference image. You can then lower the transparency of the ZBrush interface so that you can sculpt with this reference image without the need to import the image into the interface. This feature is also really useful if you want to follow along with a tutorial and don’t want the hassle of switching windows.
Polish Features – A new set of Polish sliders has been added to greatly improve surfaces. This is especially useful for product and hard surface design models and helps retain shapes even at lower poly counts.
Dynamic Brush Size – This allows the brush size to change automatically according to how far the model is away from the camera. This is really useful when sculpting things such as scales or bolts as they will remain the same size as you zoom in and out with the camera.
Posterize Effect – You can now convert smooth gradients to a stepped posterized look. It’s now possible to create cell shaded render effects.
Auto Save Features – Ever had a situation where you’ve lost hours of modelling work? The Auto Save features should help eliminate this problem. ZBrush will now auto save automatically if you are away from your computer for a period of time or you change application windows without quitting ZBrush. You can even set up ZBrush to save your work after a specified period time, automatically safeguarding your project even if you forget to save it at regular intervals.
Panel Loops – Allow a model to be transformed into multiple individual panels with thickness. It can also extrude panels from the surface of the model with clean bevels. This is a great feature for creating hard surface sculpts.
Delete Loops – Makes it easy to remove any unnecessary loops on your model. You can also use this feature creatively as with high settings you can dramatically change the shape of your model.
Curves Feature – You can create curves based on a model’s outline, edges or PolyGroups. You can then use these curves as sculpting brushes, giving you additional creative options.
