ELEMENT 3D MOTION GRAPHICS EXPERIMENT No.1

In this experiment I used some of the exciting new features in Element 3D V2, specifically the new Group Symmetry Creation Mode. This new feature allows you to create a symmetrical object on the X Y Z axis, which produces some really interesting looking shapes. I used the Spiky Sphere model in this example from the VFXER 3D Model Shatter Pack – you can download it for free here. Using different combinations of the Group Symmetry Mode and animating the result using the new Deform feature feature in Element 3D V2 I was able to create a dense and complex looking animation.

To texture the model I used 2 materials from the Flashback Japan version of the VFXER Physical Materials Pack. These materials worked perfectly for this experiment – use materials 112 and 142 to replicate the result here. Towards the end of the animation I keyframed he UV mapping of the materials using the Auxillary animation feature in Element 3D V2. This created a sense of movement across the 3D model and added an extra dimension of complexity.

For the overall look, I used the ever indispensable Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite and the Diffuse Glow Effect from Red Giant UNIVERSE.

To finish off, I used Video Copilot’s MotionPulse sound design tools to compliment the animation with some exciting ‘ear candy’.
