Dissolve Your Objects with Smoke and Particles in Cinema 4D and Redshift: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

If you want to learn how to create a dissolving effect with smoke and particles in Cinema 4D and Redshift, this tutorial is for you. You will discover how to use vertex maps, pyro, native Cinema 4D particles, redshift material blender node, redshift volume node, redshift camera node, redshift light node, and redshift object node to create a realistic and dynamic animation of an object disappearing or transforming.

The tutorial will guide you through the following steps:

– Setting up the scene with a capsule object, a floor object, a camera object, and a redshift dome light.
– Creating a vertex map with noise that will control the dissolving effect.
– Creating the dissolving effect with a redshift material blender node that will blend between two materials: one for the solid object and one for the dissolved parts.
– Creating the smoke with pyro, which is a new feature in Cinema 4D that allows you to create realistic fire and smoke simulations.
– Creating the particles with Cinema 4D’s native particle system, which is simple but effective.
– Rendering the scene with Redshift, using various nodes such as redshift camera, redshift light, redshift volume, and redshift object.

The tutorial is suitable for Cinema 4D and Redshift users of any level. You will need Cinema 4D version 2023.1.3 or higher (with pyro) and Redshift version 3.5.12 or higher. You can also use any 3D model of your choice (the tutorial uses a free Nike Air Jordan model from Sketchfab).

The tutorial is created by Ellie Wade, a trainer at Maxon who specializes in Cinema 4D and Redshift. She also posts redshift quick tips on the Maxon training team YouTube channel.
